Job description

Regional Newborn Hospitalist APP
Primary clinical duties
Round on all newborn patients admitted to the hospital nursery and coordinate care from admission to discharge.
Attend high-risk deliveries and participate in newborn resuscitation and stabilization.
Stabilize and facilitate transfer of critically ill neonates to higher-level care as needed.
Provide clinical coverage at both community hospitals and through connections with ECU Health’s tertiary children’s hospital.

Typical schedule
Shifts often include 24-hour coverage at regional facilities, with many days off each month (e.g., 16 days off in some schedules described for NP/PA roles).
Coordination with tertiary neonatal teams ensures ongoing support and continued clinical competency.
